Prime Minister Mark Carney announced on May 13 outside Rideau Hall the composition of his new Cabinet, which include four Members of the Parliament from the province of British Columbia.

Former Van

couver mayor Gregor Robertson, who won last April 28 in the Vancouver Fraserview-South Burnaby riding, was named minister of housing and infrastructure while Jill McKnight was appointed minister of veterans affairs and associate minister of national defense.

In addition, Randeep Sarai (Surrey Centre) was appointed secretary of state for international development) and Stephanie McLean (Esquimalt—Saanich—Sooke) was appointed secretary of state for seniors.

Carney’s double-layered governing council is made up of 28 ministers and 10 “junior ministers,” also called secretaries of state. About half of them have served as ministers under former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
